2002
The visitor enters a darkened area, hears a girl singing and, in the background, birds warbling. In the middle of this area a swing is suspended, the shadow of which is projected on a white screen opposite theswing. As soon as the visitor approaches the swing, his shadow appears on the white screen as well and when he starts swinging, the image of a swinging girl is added to his shadow. They are swinging along together. The moment the swing stops, the image of the swinging girl disappears. The sound is there all the time.
Idea and material developed during my stay in Surinam.
