OZEWA

City District Amsterdam Oost 2010

OZEWA is an artwork designed for the entrance hall of the City District Office Amsterdam Oost. The installation uses light projections of words that come and go like the visitors of the office.

The words are displayed in various languages and scripts including Dutch, English, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Arabic, Japanese, and Polish. Inspiration for the words was derived from the reasons why people visit the City District Office.

The work aims to enchant, marvel and provoke unexpected thoughts or dialogue. It also seeks to move the recipients by touching them with insight or an unexpected association. Walking through one of the projected fields visitors incidentally become part of the installation.

Material: 7 gobos and a beamer. Each gobo contains seven templates with one word each. The work is being steered by specially designed software.
