In the context of an exchange program of Thai artists in The Netherlands in September 2001, a joint project took place in June in the Silpakorn Art Centre in Bangkok. On a market in Bangkok I found inspiration for two video pieces: ‘The story of the Green Dress’ and ‘Sweet Memories’. In the former work a woman recalls the memories associated with her green dress. A separate monitor shows a hairdresser getting ready for the day. The story of the woman with the green dress is reinforced by the images of the hairdresser who is unaware of the fact that she is being watched. This in contrast to the woman with the dress who talks directly to an audience about things she believes to be of importance for everyone.

Cleaning The Chandelier
The main hall of the Silpakorn Art Centre features a large chandelier that hadn’t been cleaned in eight years. After a thorough research into the appropriate cleaning methods, I cleaned the chandelier. This was of great significance to the staff of the Art Centre because the chandelier had been a gift from King Rama V. ‘Cleaning The Chandelier’ is a video registration of the performance.
